We are dedicated to advancing sustainable practices within the seafood industry. Our commitment focuses on two main areas: protecting Western Australia’s distinctive marine environment and supporting commercial fishermen and their communities.
Commitment to Sustainability
Sustainable Practices
Commercial fishermen in Western Australia are global leaders in adhering to sustainable fisheries management systems.
Sustainable fishing reduces environmental impact, leaves more fish in the sea and harms fewer marine animals.
Consumers can play their part in encouraging sustainable and responsible fisheries by buying and eating local Australian seafood where possible.
We know where our seafood is caught, and this allows us to ensure that our local fish populations and their surrounding environments are maintained. We undertake independent assessments of all our products and review the environment in which they have been sourced.
We achieve this through collaboration with commercial fishermen, relevant Government regulators, and industry body representatives. By embracing and adapting to these practices, we contribute to a thriving, sustainable industry, ensuring seafood availability for now and future generations.
Local Impact
While Australian wild-catch production is a small fraction of global seafood production, we focus on channelling 100% of our finfish catches back into the local market. This enables us to boost the economy and generate employment opportunities.
With our commitment to sustainability comes our eco-friendly initiatives that reduce our environmental footprint and promote more sustainable practices. Our efforts include:
Shark cartilage and skin are turned into dog treats, and fish offal is used by a local wine producer who uses this byproduct as fertiliser.
We actively reduce plastic usage by offering fully compostable bags for fresh fish in our retail shop.
Our facility utilises collected rainwater, ensuring that we significantly reduce our water usage.
We utilise the power of solar energy, reducing our dependence on non-renewable energy sources wherever possible.
